April is an actor, writer, and producer.
April (she/her) is a writer, actor, and Tony Award winning producer based in New York City. April started her writing career as a humor and satirical columnist for Reductress. Since then, her work has been featured in McSweeney's, Bitch Magazine, Vulture and more. Additionally, she is the co-author of the award winning children's book, "A Case of the Zaps," published under Abrams Kids. Her second book, "Feeling Boo," is slated to release in the Summer of 2024, once again with Abrams.
Recently, she won a residency at the Letter of Marque Theater Company. As the Spring 2023 Playwright in Residence, she developed a new full-length work, “The Revenge of Eve,” which culminated in an industry presentation. The piece is currently in active development. In June 2024, her play "We Shall Be Monsters" will receive a workshop production in New York City.
As an actor, April has appeared on stages throughout the world and on television screens nationwide working in front of the camera on projects for Netflix and HBO, and has worked alongside actors such as Jim Parsons, Billy Eichner and Alec Baldwin. She holds a BA in Theatre Performance from Wagner College and has trained at The Upright Citizens Brigade in sketch and improv. She served as Director of Improv on Foul Play, a five episode fully improvised murder mystery series.
She is a director and actor with the Story Pirates, as well as a member of Good Catch Comedy— the oldest-running musical improv team in New York City.
As a producer, she is currently represented on Broadway in Hadestown, for which she won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Musical.
April is also a death doula.
